About our Program

Crime Stoppers of Beaufort County, Inc. announced the launch of its new program serving the residents and law enforcement agencies of Beaufort County in October 2024. The program offers citizens a way to report tips anonymously and crime-solving assistance to law enforcement.

After the announcement that the regional program, Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry, was dissolving, several concerned residents worked with area law enforcement officials, the South Carolina Crime Stoppers Coordinator and the South Carolina Crime Stoppers Council to create the new Crime Stoppers of Beaufort County program to ensure both the public and area law enforcement agencies had all tools available to report and deter criminal activity.

Basic Principles

Crime Stoppers is based on the principle that someone other than the criminal has information that can solve a crime and was created to combat the three major problems faced by law enforcement in generating that information:

  • Fear of REPRISAL
  • An attitude of APATHY
  • Reluctance to get INVOLVED

Crime Stoppers resolves these problems by:

  • Offering ANONYMITY to people who provide information about crimes.
  • Paying REWARDS when the information supplied leads to arrest.
