Crime Stoppers of Beaufort County is an anonymous tipping program established to enhance public safety and support local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies within Beaufort County.

The program employs a three-part strategy to solve crimes. It depends on the collaboration of the community, the media, and law enforcement to gather information about crimes, fugitives, suspicious activities, and missing persons. Crime Stoppers motivates community members to aid law enforcement in combating crime by addressing the two main obstacles to community involvement: fear and apathy.

Tipsters remain ANONYMOUS.

  • Caller ID is not used on hotlines.
  • Calls are not recorded.
  • Phone numbers are not stored in call logs.
  • No identifying details of the tipster are recorded (such as sex, race, relationship, etc.).
  • Locations are not tracked.

Tipsters receive a unique, computer-generated Tip ID and password. It is crucial not to lose your Tip ID and/or password, as these are the only means to verify your tip submission and qualify you for a reward.

Crime Stoppers offers various methods for submitting tips to encourage community members to provide essential information voluntarily, rewarding tips that lead to an arrest.

Each program operates independently with its own bylaws and Board of Directors. Board members represent diverse community sectors and volunteer their time and skills towards a shared objective: to make the program effective by aiding law enforcement in crime reduction. Crime Stoppers is sustained by its volunteer Board of Directors and public donations, which are tax-deductible, to manage the program's administration.
